DJ enjoyed being outdoors and was an avid coon and deer hunter. He also enjoyed fishing, riding ATV’s, playing darts and watching KC Chiefs football.
DJ especially loved spending time with, and cooking for his family at their family dinners.
DJ will be missed by many.

DJ Bales Memorial Scholarship

A scholarship has been set up that will bear his name by the Kansas Federation of Houndsmen. Any Kansas High School Senior who will be getting some type of post high school education will be able to apply for this scholarship.
Just write a 500 word essay on "Why hunting or working with dogs or hounds has changed my life".

A committee of The DJ Bales Family having one vote, the Fish and Game having one vote and the Kansas Federation of Houndsmen having one vote. If for some reason, there would be a tie Norm Douglas will break the tie.

The Winner will receive a $500.00 Scholarship.

Wyatt Reyer
is a graduating senior at Chase County High School.

He is the son of Kim and Lana Reyer of Cottonwood Falls, Kansas.

The Kansas Federation of Houndsmen is honored to announce the recipients of the 2019 DJ Bales Memorial Scholarship. A $250 scholarship will be awarded to each to the following young hunters.

Kyle Budy
is a graduating senior at Jefferson County North High School.

He is the son of Amy and Ed Budy of rural Nortonville, Kansas.
